I read this Sunday Letter while I was avoiding working on a piece about alternatives, which got me thinking that maybe, with few or no extra words, I could come up with an alternative ending. I couldn't winnow the number to zero.
But be sure that to fight is our nature—at least one half of it—and it occurs everywhere in life to varying degrees. We are capable of destroying ourselves…the pursuit of power and control is humanity’s great sickness and [may] be our downfall. But equally, we are capable of creating such wonderful things, of supporting and helping one another. [May that be our saving grace.]
