Welcome to The Reflectionist, and thank you for joining my private email list. My name is Larry G. Maguire and I’m a writer from Dublin, Ireland. I am an artist, owner of a business of one, a psychologist in training and I publish here on The Reflectionist most days.
Readers here receive a summary on Saturdays (but only if you’re following the publication and choose to receive letters). If you don’t follow the publication, that’s ok, because you’ve chosen to join my private newsletter.
The weekly Sunday Letters newsletter goes out, you guessed it, on a Sunday, and I include a private message or story plus links to all the content from the prior week. I’ve been sending to readers now for about 2 years and generally, that’s all I send unless I have an announcement or something else I want to let you folks know about.
Here’s some other stuff you’ll receive
I share other stuff too. Here’s some of what I’ll have for you.
Poetry: I write poetry that has an edge. Here’s an example of something recent.
Books: I’m working on one title at present and have many other ideas on the shelf. A recent digital publication was The Artist’s Manifesto. I had intended making it ten chapters but I recently realised that the book must stay as it is — about three chapters. The other material I had intended for the book will form a new title. You will hear news about this new book before anyone else. In the meantime, here’s your free copy of The Artist’s Manifesto;

Video Content: I’m on YouTube and I record new material there related to my work. Subscribe to my channel to get new video content, and watch this short video about The Reflectionist.
Podcast: I have recorded over 180 podcast episodes on The Larb in the last 24 months. Topics on The Larb relate strongly to the material you’ll read here and is available on 10+ podcast platforms. So check out the show on your favourite player.
My Blog: My personal site has gone through many changes since 2014 when I initially launched and it’s where I practised. Not every article is well written, but it’s where I started so I’m proud of it. There are over 190 articles there so check out the archive.
Nothing To Sell
Generally speaking, I have nothing to sell you. I’m writing because I like to research and write material on the nature of human behaviour specific to creativity and work. If you receive value from what I write, then that’s my enjoyment. My intention here on The Reflectionist, is that I am free to write whatever I want to write, simply for the sake of it. And I don’t know what can offer greater creative freedom than that.
I’m also writing here as a place my kids can explore who I was when I’m gone. When they get older they can read this work and see who their dad was without the shackles of ulterior motivation.
However, that said, if you are a Medium member, and you’re reading and applauding my articles here, it means I’m getting paid by Medium as part of their partner program so I make a few quid income. But remember, that is a possible consequence, not a premeditated goal for my writing here.
I’ll occasionally have a book or some other creative work that I’ll tell you about, but that notice will come in Sunday Letters, not here.
So that’s about it.
The Reflectionist is a place for articles and essays written for the sake of it, addressing the nature of human existence, creativity, life and work.
I hope you enjoy.
Regards, Larry G. Maguire
