I’m creating content for creative entrepreneurs. Here’s the low down

Welcome to the Editor’s Journal; A daily thought on writing, the creative process, art, work, the world and how it all goes together. Every morning I rise between 5 and 6 am, I sit here in the quiet of my kitchen and I write whatever’s prominent. I have a bunch of article ideas saved, so I’ll either pull from them or write something new. I also write at larrygmaguire.com. I hope you enjoy the read.

I love psychology and marketing, I simply can’t get away from this fact.

Marketing is psychology you see, and as you know I’m doing a BA in psychology right now.

Everything is psychology actually — the workings of the mind made physical through human behaviour.

I use marketing to tell people about what I write and draw. If you work for yourself you use marketing too, even if you don’t want to call it that.

Even if you don’t work for yourself, you use marketing every single day to convince other people to give you what you want.

Examine your family environment, your work and your social circles, you’ll see it’s true.

You might stick to your guns sometimes, you might ease back and give in other times. But all of your behavior is rooted in what goes on in your mind.

So I decided that in order to satisfy my need to explore this area. I will build out more content on marketing and psychology (and business) on a regular basis.

If you work for yourself freelance like me, or you run a larger organisation, then you’re really gonna dig this stuff.

Marketing Is Not Manipulation (Unless You Make It So)

Some organisations take the principles I’ll show you and use them to manipulate people. Big corps do this all the time and most of us don’t even realise it.

But let’s be clear — that’s not what I’m asking you to do!

The content I’ll be writing for you will merely show you things you should be aware of. It will show you how to position yourself to get the most bang for your buck.

Here’s something else I want to be clear on…

This content I’m writing is for solo creative people like you.

It’s not for big corporates.

You might be working your art alone, or you might have a couple of people working for you. You might even be simply thinking about doing your own thing.

Well, the info I’m writing will help you either get off to a good start or simply do better more effective business.

Many creative people have a bit of a hang up about business and money. But like I said yesterday, business and creativity are one and the same.

Honestly if you think creativity and business are diametrically opposed, you need to snap out of it or you’ll be scraping for pennies forever.

Every day I write.

I’ll still be writing about creativity, that’s a core element of what drives me.

But like I said, I’ll also be writing about marketing — how to get your stuff under the noses of people who matter.

The overwhelming purpose of all this will be to help you grow your audience and build your online presence.

Every week I’ll share tutorials and practical content that will show you step by step how to get your shit done online.
