016 - Why Keep Showing Up?
I’ve been doing this a while, to varying degrees of mild success. So why bother?

Welcome to the Editor’s Journal; A daily thought on writing, the creative process, art, work, the world and how it all goes together. Every morning I rise between 5 and 6 am, I sit here in the quiet of my kitchen and I write whatever’s prominent. I have a bunch of article ideas saved, so I’ll either pull from them or write something new. I also write at larrygmaguire.com. I hope you enjoy the read.
For quite a while now I’ve worked and played online. It’s almost 10 years since I started coming here regularly to test the water and write, to market my business and share ideas. Subjects have been varied, ranging from technology to philosophy and lots in between.
Over the years it has been a gradual refining and improvement of my writing to a point where I’m comfortable getting on the internet machine and sharing my thoughts as they are (almost).
I’ve refined my voice, and although I don’t believe it’s ever truly definable, it’s now in a place where I’m more comfortable than before. Most of that early stuff has disappeared now with whatever website it was written on.
I’ve gone through more ideas and websites it’s not funny.
Although I’ve sold stuff, written stuff that has resonated and built a small list of subscribers, I can’t say what I’m doing has caught fire yet.
I’ve told myself umpteen times this isn’t working. But something keeps bringing me back. I’m compelled to get on here and write no matter how good or bad it is.
For what?
Who knows. I’ll just keep doing it until I don’t.
Fuck it, you should too.

Howdy, I’m Larry, Writer & Artist. Thanks for taking the time to read my stuff. I write about art & creativity. When I’m not doing that I write short stories about the ordinary lives of people and the challenges they face. My stuff can be edgy, hard hitting, and sometimes controversial, but never contrived.
