The Sunday Letters Podcast is the weekly audio newsletter from organisational psychologist Larry Maguire on the meaning & purpose of daily work and our oftentimes paradoxical relationship with it. We explore how human beings may break free from tiresome means-to-an-end labour and finally take command of their own working lives. Topics include solo working, careers, entrepreneurship, economics, society and culture. Content follows the written newsletter, which goes out to subscribers every Sunday.

In today's episode of the show, I'm joined by Paul O'Mahony, poet and business storyteller. In essence, Paul is a marketer and so I asked him to enter a discussion with me on the idea that all marketing is manipulation. In many respects, it seems that it is. In some it appears not. Some businesses do seem to go out of their way to convince you and me to buy things we don't need. But in the belief that we do need those things, then we need them and so there is someone there to give it to us. Perhaps it is then, the intent behind the delivery that matters.
